How to backup Whatsapp

Today will show how we can backup whatsapp chats, incase you lose your phone or maybe change to a new phone this backup can come in handy.
This tutorial will focus on backing up Whatsapp chats on an Android phone.

1. ONLINE BACKUP
2. OFFLINE BACKUP

1.ONLINE BACKUP
a. Tap your "WhatsApp" app to open WhatsApp. You can backup WhatsApp from within its settings menu. (To backup whatsapp online to a cloud server, your android must be synchronised to a google account)

b. Tap your whatsapp's menu button. The three horizontal dots in the corner.

c. Tap the "Settings" option.

d. Tap the "Chats" tab. This will open your Chats preferences.

e. Tap "Chat backup". From here, you have a few options. But under this section we are focusing on the following;
        +Back up to Google Drive" - Backup your chats to Google Drive.


f. Tap "Back up to Google Drive". This will prompt you to choose a backup frequency.

g. Tap "Back Up" to backup your chats immediately. As long as your phone and your Google Drive account both have enough space for the backup, this process will continue. 

h. Choose an account on which to save your backup. If you don't have a Google account registered, you will need to tap "Add Account" and enter your email address/password.

i. Choose a network to use for your backup. You can do this by tapping "Back up over", then tapping a network. If you use data rather than wifi, you may get charged for the use.

j. Wait for your backup to finish. If this is your first backup, it may take a few minutes.

2. OFFLINE BACKUP
Follow steps from (a.) To (d,) from the above section.
e. Tap "Chat backup". From here, you have a green button "Back Up"
f. Tap on "Back Up" to back up immediately. As long as your phone has enough space it will back up all your chats.
g. Wait for the backup to finish.
h. Go back to your android apps, locate the file manager.

i. Open the file manager, find the Whatsapp folder.

j. Inside the Whatsapp folder, there are 3 folders (database, media, backups) -> copy the database folder to a safer place i.e this is your offline backup!
